Before you use these
These are the government (MTCC) ferry times for the islands we cover, copied from the MTCC timetable effective 1 August 2026, via the full route listing on Maldivesfounder. We last checked them on 18 October 2026. A few things you need to know first:
- No ferries on Fridays. None of these routes run on a Friday.
- Times are the timetable's, not a promise. Boats run late, and they get cancelled in bad weather. Confirm with your guesthouse the day before.
- They leave from Malé, not the airport. You'll need the airport ferry or a taxi into Malé first. In mid-2026 the boarding point for the South Malé ferries was reported as temporarily moved to the jetty opposite the Maldives Police Service.
- Cash only, tickets at the terminal. Fares are a few dollars. There's no online booking.
- Times marked "~" are the scheduled time at an intermediate stop. "→" means the boat carries on.

Routes 305 + 304: Malé to Dhigurah the slow way
There's no direct public ferry from Malé to Dhigurah, but you can connect through Mahibadhoo, the South Ari capital. It's a long day, which is why almost everyone takes the shared speedboat (about 2 hours). Still, it's possible:
| Going (Saturday, Monday, Wednesday) | Time |
|---|---|
| Route 305: Malé | 08:30 |
| Route 305: Mahibadhoo | ~12:40 |
| Route 304: Mahibadhoo | 13:30 |
| Route 304: Dhangethi | ~14:30 |
| Route 304: Dhigurah | ~15:05 |
| Coming back (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday) | Time |
|---|---|
| Route 304: Dhigurah | 08:00 |
| Route 304: Mahibadhoo | ~09:40 |
| Route 305: Mahibadhoo | 11:00 |
| Route 305: Malé | ~15:20 |
Route 304 itself runs every day except Friday between Fenfushi, Maamigili, Dhidhdhoo, Dhigurah, Dhangethi and Mahibadhoo, so it's also a cheap way to hop around South Ari once you're there. More in our Dhigurah guide and whale shark budget guide.

Tips
- Arrive 15 minutes early. These boats generally leave on time.
- Bring small rufiyaa notes. Fares are tiny and cash only.
- Expect it to be slow and basic. Wooden or steel ferries, a mix of locals and cargo, no aircon. It's honestly part of the fun.
- Keep the money you save for the room. Run the rate through our room price calculator so the taxes don't surprise you.
- Arriving late? You won't make any of these. Sleep near the airport: Hulhumalé stopover guide.
Hulhumalé stays for ferry days
Sleep near the airport the night before an early ferry or flight.
